Rafting or Bungee First?

If you only have one morning, or two, which order actually works better.

These are the two things nearly everyone comes to Rishikesh for, they are both half-day commitments in opposite directions from town, and they are the reason a one-night trip has to choose.

If you can only do one, do the rafting. It lasts two to three hours rather than a few seconds, it works for a group of mixed nerve, it has no weight limit to fall foul of, and nobody has ever regretted it.

If you have two mornings, the order genuinely matters, and the better order is the one most people do not pick.

Why bungee first, if you are doing both

Because the jump is the one you can talk yourself out of, and a night of anticipation after a brilliant day of rafting is how that happens. Get it done on the first morning and the rest of the trip is downhill in the good sense.

There is a practical reason too. If the weather or a weight check stops the jump on day one, you still have day two to try again. Leave it to the last morning and a cancellation ends the trip with the thing you most wanted undone.

Why not both in one day

Each is a half-day once the drive at either end is counted, and they are in different directions from town. Stacking them means a rushed raft, a rushed jump, and four hours in a vehicle.

People do attempt it and the usual outcome is arriving at the second activity tired, late and no longer enjoying it. If the trip is genuinely one day, pick one.

How they actually differ

Rafting is a shared, sustained, participatory thing — you paddle, the group works together, there are long calm stretches and conversation. It is sociable.

The bungee is the opposite: a long wait, a short private moment of commitment, and a very large feeling afterwards. One is an experience you have with people; the other is one you have on your own with an audience. Which appeals is a better basis for choosing than which is more famous.
